My name is Darlene Obiyan and I am a seasoned makeup up artist with over two decades of experience in the luxury retail beauty industry. My love for makeup started as a young girl watching my mother put on makeup so beautifully. After graduating from Chicago State University with a degree in Business Management, my interest in makeup continued to grow as I managed several retail establishments. Working in the retail world gave me the experience to help women from all ethnicities. What I discovered was that all women wanted to look their very best whether it was from just taking care of their skin with the right skincare products or by just learning a few tips and tricks with their own makeup. I soon realized that I had a passion for showing women just how to do that. In October of 2017, I decided to launch Beauty Is What I Do.
As a professional makeup artist, my artistry can be described as clean, classic, timeless, and elegant, with a specialization in bridal and special occasion makeup. By taking the time to listen to my clients and understand their unique skin type, personality, and style, I am able to personalize looks that bring out their natural beauty and make them feel confident and radiant. Hiring a Professional Makeup Artist for your wedding day will certainly take the guess work out of wondering if you will look your absolute best on your special day. Being a wedding makeup artist is what I love and enjoy most. I would be privileged and honored to be part of your wedding day. I would highly recommend a pre wedding trial to ensure that your makeup is exactly how you envision it to be on your big day at least 3 months out. I am also available to do makeup for Engagements, Bridal Showers, Bachelorette Parties and Rehearsal Dinners. I look forward to meeting you!

Makeup is meant to be fun and can be used to really express who you are. However, with so much out there to choose from, where do you start and what should you use? I can help you take the guess work out it by customizing all the right products and tools to help you achieve your desired look. Whether it's a minimal natural look; professional day look or evening glam, I am happy to show you step by step how to achieve it all as your professional makeup artist.
Photo Shoots
I am available to be on location for your model or for you. Whatever the look, I will execute it to your desire based on lighting, equipment used and theme of the shoot. Rest assured that your photos will be amazing on camera as well as in print. I am also available for half day or full day services as your professional makeup artist.
